I am reworking the landing pages. I was not happy with how they looked. Now they will be more consistent and readable. Starting with the oldest products and working my way forward. It is a work in progress at:

It is on the way! Once I get the proof (if there are no more mistakes!), it will be going live soon. This book delves into what makes a memorable NPC. Structured towards the horror genre, but can be applied wider. Lets face it, we only remember a few NPCs, this book will tell you why and how to make your NPCs more memorable and get your players to care about them.

More to come.

The People Called After

Posted by: Keith

Pulp Cthulhu: Modern Operatives — Occupation Kits 7–12 begins where ordinary explanations start to fail.

The first Modern Operatives set focused on people who move through the world of security, intelligence, information, influence, and hidden networks. Kits 7–12 moves into a different kind of professional territory: the people called when something has already gone wrong.

A body arrives at the morgue with injuries that do not match any known mechanism. A paramedic responds to a call that no protocol can explain. A wilderness expert finds tracks that do not belong to any animal. An antiquarian acquires an object with a history no one wants documented. A crisis negotiator hears a voice on the line that does not sound human. A maritime professional sees something impossible beneath the water.

These are characters whose work gives them a baseline. They know what a normal injury looks like. They know how a person behaves under pressure. They understand weather, terrain, evidence, deep water, old texts, and human fear. That knowledge is what makes the Mythos frightening.

In a horror game, it matters when a character can say, “That is not normal,” and mean it. The Forensic Pathologist does not panic because a wound looks unpleasant. They panic because the wound contradicts everything they know about anatomy. The Wilderness Survival Expert does not fear the dark simply because it is dark. They fear it because the woods have gone quiet in a way that means something is hunting.

That was the starting point for Kits 7–12. I wanted occupations built around professional competence, but competence with a cost. These characters are good at reading the signs. They may be the first people at the table to understand that something is wrong. They are also the people most likely to understand just how wrong it is.

The six occupations in this set are:

•       Forensic Pathologist

•       Street Paramedic

•       Wilderness Survival Expert

•       Occult Antiquarian

•       Crisis Negotiator

•       Maritime Professional

Together, they support a different corner of modern pulp horror. They are useful in cities, hospitals, archives, wilderness areas, ports, vessels, crime scenes, and places too far from help. They bring practical skills to an investigation, but they also bring professional obligations, institutional pressure, and very personal reasons not to look away.

That is the heart of this set: people whose careers have taught them to see what others miss—until they see something no one should.

Coming soon....

TTFN,

Keith
