Construction Notes:
Pummers got thier name by applying a sound to the visual of the LED flashing. If it made a noise, it would sound like this: pummmmmmm.... Comes on strong, then fades away.

I free formed the circuit per the schematic, starting with the pins that are all connected. I then started adding components: the 1uf capacitors first, then the diode and resistors that are connected directly to the 74AC240 chip. The 100kOhm resistor was mounted on the back side of the solar cell.

I was originally going to use 2 AA rechargeable batteries from an old cordless phone. However, this was not meant to be. The circuit kept draining the batteries and never seemed to charge them either. During one of my attempts at charging it with a 9V battery, I fried the circuit. I didn't want to un solder hte batteries and took a short cut. Ah, well, live and learn.

So, I ended up remaking the circuit. It turned out that one of the two AA cells I was using previous was bad. I went with another cordless phone battery pack with 3 AA cells for 3.6V. I also decided to make it a bit more modular. Plugs for the battery, solarcell and LEDs.

All that I have left is the box to mount it all in. It is currently drying. I purchased a $1 wooden box from a local craft store, drilled a couple of holes in the lid and recessed a part for a quartz crystal to fit it. I think it is shaping up nicely. I am just waiting for the varnish to dry.

Well, it is finally all together. I do believe that it is more effient and charges the batteries better. Enjoy.
